Ways individuals can help…

1. Food sorting/stocking: Help is needed on Mondays and Tuesdays for sorting our delivery from GCFD and local grocery stores. Tasks include unloading food from vehicles, sorting, stocking and organizing food items.  Some lifting is done.  Volunteers can work for 1-3 hours, anytime between 10am and 1pm.

2. Wednesday Food Distribution: Volunteers help distribute food to clients from 1-4 pm and a second shift from 6-8pm every Wednesday. Help restocking shelves between shifts is often needed. Distribution and sorting is done at our Northcenter location.

3. Home Delivery: On the 2nd Saturday each month, pairs of Common Pantry volunteers assemble groceries for seniors and the disabled then deliver them directly to our clients.  Preparation and delivery time is approximately 2 hours, from about 9:30am to 11:30am.  Access to a vehicle and a valid drivers license is required.

4. Seasonal/One-time Volunteers: Food pantry needs increase during different times of the year. These might include helping with a food drive, holiday drives, picking up and sorting large donations, or working on a fundraiser.

5. Office Support: A variety of computer support (data entry, etc), distribution prep work and donation management is needed throughout the year.  Assistance on Monday and Tuesday mornings, between 10am and 1pm, or on Wednesday evenings between 6pm and 8pm would be great.

6. Donation Pickups: Often times Common Pantry is contacted by a donor that is not able to deliver goods to our facility.  With access to a vehicle, a valid drivers license, and some spare time during the week you can make a huge impact by picking up donations from individuals and organizations in the community.
